NCCIR confirms ITC licence cancellations

16 Nov 2012

Following the news yesterday that Ukrainian CDMA operator ITC (CDMA UA) had decided to shut down its mobile operations and transfer its subscribers to larger rival Intertelecom, the National Commission for Communications and Information Regulation (NCCIR) has confirmed the cancellation of licences belonging to ITC and its subsidiaries at its regular meeting of 15 November, reported on the watchdog’s website. The NCCIR said that a total of 21 licences were revoked at that date, including concessions belonging to ITC and its subsidiaries Velton Telecom and Ukrainian Wave, although the companies involved have not yet confirmed plans to shut down or details of a takeover by Intertelecom. ITC has a partnership agreement in place with Intertelecom to jointly offer services, and a marketing representative has confirmed that a process has begun to transfer customers across to the larger CDMA operator.
