TeliaSonera selects Infinera’s 100G-on-demand solution for North America

13 Nov 2012

TeliaSonera International Carrier has selected Infinera’s ‘DTN-X with Instant Bandwidth’ solution, enabling it to offer up to 100Gbps of optical transport capacity to customers on-demand via software control across its North American network. Erik Hallberg, President of TeliaSonera International Carrier, said that the on-demand solution enables significantly shorter customer delivery times for 100G services, while a press release added that the move is expected to lower operational costs.

TeliaSonera International Carrier operates a wholly owned fibre-optic network connecting 200 Points of Presence (PoPs) across Europe, North America and Asia. Customers include content providers and network operators globally for IP, DWDM, Ethernet, voice and specialised mobile services. In North America, its 18,000km fibre network, reaching 35 PoPs in 23 cities, is the first to deploy the DTN-X with Instant Bandwidth.
