Globe Telecom of the Philippines has reported consolidated service revenues of PHP61.3 billion (USD1.5 billion) for the nine months to 30 September 2012, up 6% from last year’s PHP57.7 billion. The group said that sustained top-line growth was underpinned by strong performances from its mobile, broadband, and fixed line data businesses which grew 6%, 14%, and 9% year-on-year, respectively. Globe added that mobile revenues outperformed 9M11 levels, to end the nine months of the current financial year at PHP49.9 billion, driven by the success of its ‘revolutionising customisable post-paid plans’, which are supporting rising demand for mobile browsing and voice services. GlobeTelecom had a total of 32.1 million mobile subscribers at 30 September 2012, up 10% y-o-y from 29.1 million in the same period a year ago. On the other hand, Globe Telecom saw its profit decline by 15% to PHP6.8 billion, with the increase in operating expenses, subsidy and the impact of the accelerated depreciation from its network modernisation programme. Core net income went up 7% to PHP8.8 billion.
