TeleSemana reports that despite union conflicts and legal disputes involving Co-operativa de Telefonos Automaticos La Paz (COTEL), the company’s services will not be suspended. Bolivia’s Minister of Labour Daniel Santalla stated that COTEL’s services will continue to run and there is no possibility that these services can not be provided. Santalla urged COTEL and the country’s telecoms regulator La Autoridad de Telecomunicaciones y Transportes (ATT) to find a solution to their legal dispute, which relates to COTEL allegedly breaching a number of regulations. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, in recent years COTEL has struggled to contain its debts and keep its finances in order amid allegations of mismanagement and corruption.
