Johannesburg-based BonCom, an IT outsourcing firm, is interested in investing in Zimbabwean telco TelOne, reports The Zimbabwean. The newspaper quotes BonCom CEO Preddy Mothopeng as saying: ‘There are some telecoms deals we are trying to tie up. During this visit we have engaged TelOne and Powertel as well as a few other telecommunication companies with a view to investing,’ he said. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, TelOne is Zimbabwe’s wholly state-owned sole fixed line operator. The company was previously in talks with Telkom South Africa, but the negotiations did not lead to a tie-up.
