NetCologne to expand services to Windeck

Regional network operator NetCologne has teamed up with utility group RWE Deutschland to bring its high speed internet services to Windeck, situated in the federal state of North Rhine-Westphalia. Rollout of a fibre-optic network has already begun in the town, ahead of a planned launch of services for both residential and business customers by mid-2013. Approximately 7,000 households and around 650 businesses will be able to benefit from broadband internet at maximum download speeds of 50Mbps. NetCologne is owned by the municipality of Cologne through utilities firm GEW Koln. Its coverage includes Cologne and the surrounding municipalities of Hurth, Bruhl, Frechen, Bergisch Gladbach, and the towns and cities of Rhein-Erft-Kreis, Leverkusen, Rhein-Sieg-Kreis, Bonn, Duren, Aachen, Lohmar, Rosrath, Overrath, Bensberg, Euskirchen and Langenfeld.
