Regulator awards mobile frequencies to LMT and Bite

Latvian telecoms regulator the Public Utilities Commission (Sabiedrisko Pakalpojumu Regulesanas Komisija, or SPRK) has assigned new mobile frequencies to domestic cellcos LMT and Bite Latvia, online news portal Db.lv reports. It is understood that LMT has been allocated mobile frequencies in the 2,300MHz-2,330MHz band, while its rival has been assigned spectrum in the 2,330MHz-2,360MHz band. Each cellco will pay LVL110,000 (USD205,000) for the spectrum, which will be used for data transmission services.
