Filipino telecoms operator Bayantel Telecommunications Inc (Bayan) is reported to be confident of exceeding its target of generating revenue of PHP5.1 billion (USD123.5 million) in FY 2012. ABS-CBNnews.com quotes the telco’s vice president for marketing Juan Jose De Jesus as saying that the carrier hopes to beat the figure by around 3%, adding that Bayan’s bottom line is looking positive and that it has ‘healthy’ EBITDA. By the start of this year the Lopez-controlled group had settled total debts worth PHP7.274 billion since it underwent rehabilitation in July 2004. Bayan currently counts around 140,000 broadband internet subscribers, up from 120,000 in 2011, and a fixed telephony base of 190,000 users. In fiscal 2012 it is targeting growth in its DSL subscriber base in the region of 12%-15%.
