25 Oct 2012

Filipino telecoms operator Bayantel Telecommunications Inc (Bayan) is reported to be confident of exceeding its target of generating revenue of PHP5.1 billion (USD123.5 million) in FY 2012. By the start of this year the Lopez-controlled group had settled total debts worth PHP7.274 billion since it underwent rehabilitation in July 2004. Bayan currently counts around 140,000 broadband internet subscribers, up from 120,000 in 2011, and a fixed telephony base of 190,000 users. In fiscal 2012 it is targeting growth in its DSL subscriber base in the region of 12%-15%.
