The Telecoms Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has instructed Bharti Airtel, Vodafone India, Tata Teleservices (TTSL), Idea Cellular and Reliance Communications (RCOM) to disconnect all mobile numbers transferred to them from Loop Telecom via mobile number portability (MNP). According to ZeeNews India, the order followed complaints from Loop Telecom that 5,923 numbers had been ported out illegally. Loop Telecom, which is closing down its business in India following the cancellation of its licences by the Supreme Court in February this year, said that the ported numbers had not been used by customers. The cellco added that the transfers were the result of ‘fraudulent activity.’
