South African telecoms company MTN Group has said it plans to sell its mobile phone towers in Cote d’Ivoire and Cameroon to Nigeria-based HIS Holdings. Reuters reports that the total sale price will be USD284 million, including USD141 million for 931 towers in Cote d’Ivoire and USD143 million for a further 827 masts in Cameroon. The transactions are expected to close in the first quarter of 2013; MTN will be the anchor tenant on its former towers for an initial period of ten years.
