News agency BelTA reports that the government of Belarus will launch a presentation on the 2 November 2012 to launch the state’s proposed sale of its 51% stake in its mobile joint venture with Russian powerhouse Mobile TeleSystems, MTS Belarus. According to Ella Chazova, a spokeswoman for the Ministry of Communications and Information Technologies, the aim of the presentation is to identify potential buyers for the state’s equity – valued at around USD1 billion – with 49% shareholder MTS Russia seen as a likely bidder.
The date of the auction has yet to be finalised.
