Ministry urged to speed up 4G licensing

4 Oct 2012

A delay in issuing licences for 4G services could cause problems for the country’s mobile users when it comes to using new smartphone devices such as the Apple iPhone 5, the Kuwait Times reports. With the country’s Ministry of Communications still to decide on the frequencies to be used for Long Term Evolution (LTE), retailers in Kuwait have been importing two different models of iPhone 5 which both operate in different spectrum bands, meaning that some customers may find that their handset does not work with future 4G networks in the country. The Ministry is being urged to speed up the process of frequency allocations to settle the matter.
