27 Sep 2012

Comarch, a provider of end-to-end IT solutions for the telecoms industry, has announced that it has delivered a business support systems (BSS) platform to Mobile One, which performs managed services for Turkcell Europe, enabling it to offer a broad range of mobile and value added services for customers in Germany. Comarch’s solutions will enable a quick and cost-effective launch of Turkcell Europe’s personalised pre- and post-paid services, and will also assure a seamless customer experience in the Turkish and German language, as well as support partner data management for all involved parties. ‘The Comarch BSS platform helped us launch our MVNO services in the German market very quickly and gather almost 300,000 customers within one year,’ commented Ugur Serkan Taskin, programme manager for Turkcell Europe’s MNVO Project, adding: ‘Comarch’s solution enables Turkcell Europe to gradually develop our business and constantly expand the service portfolio that addresses the needs of existing and future subscribers.’

According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Turkey’s largest mobile operator by subscribers Turkcell signed a five-year wireless wholesale contract with Telekom Deutschland (TD) in October 2010 and subsequently established a wholly-owned subsidiary, Turkcell Europe, headquartered in Cologne. The company went on to launch MVNO services over TD’s network in March 2011, aiming its services at the roughly 3.5 million Turks living in Germany by offering packages that would allow customers to call or receive calls from Turkey at local rates. The company hopes to capture about 4% of the German market, selling voice, mobile broadband and other data services.
