Tesco Mobile Hungary holds prices, despite new telecoms tax

26 Sep 2012

Mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Tesco Mobile Hungary has announced it is holding its prices until March 2013, despite the introduction of a controversial telecom tax introduced by the government in the summer. The MVNO, which offers its service over Vodafone Hungary’s network and claims 3G coverage of 90.1% of the Magyar population, claims to have had a positive start in its first year of operation – although it declined to provide subscriber numbers. With one promotion, Tesco Mobile Hungary is offering 50 free on-net minutes with any denomination of top-up until 7 October, while another promises 50MB of ‘free’ mobile broadband internet downloads until the end of that month.
