Etisalat launches HSPA+ network in Akure

Etisalat Nigeria, the local unit of United Arab Emirates telco Etisalat, has officially launched its ‘3.75G’ mobile broadband service in the city of Akure, reports local newspaper This Day. Speaking at the launch, Etisalat Nigeria’s chief commercial officer, Wael Ammar, said: ‘The launch of the 3.75G platform promises changes that will enhance multimedia functionality, high speed mobile broadband and internet access, allowing users to make video calls, watch live videos, send and receive emails and download music from their devices.’ As noted in TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, Etisalat launched its ‘easyblaze’-branded Dual Carrier-HSPA+ (DC-HSPA+) network in Lagos, Abuja, Port Harcourt, Ibadan, Kano, Kaduna, Zaria, Warri, Enugu, Aba, Awka, Nnewi, Onitsha and Benin in September 2011. The service offers maximum download speeds of up to 42Mbps.
