Citing data produced by local telecoms regulator Comision Federal de Telecomunicaciones (Cofetel), Telefonica Mexico noted that it has the highest percentage of completed calls of all the nation’s mobile operators. Operating in the mobile sector using the Movistar brand, the company highlighted the fact that, alongside completing 99.18% of calls, it was the only cellco which guaranteed 100% delivery of SMS messages, while also boasting the shortest average time for delivery.

Meanwhile, alongside reiterating Cofetel’s findings, Telefonica Mexico took the opportunity to relay details on the status of its mobile infrastructure, as well as the future plans for its development. According to the operator, its wireless network now covers 90% of the urban population nationwide, while looking ahead Telefonica Mexico has said it expects the infrastructure to grow by around 25% via the deployment of some 3,200 new base stations, all of which are expected to be able to offer 2G, 3G and 4G services.

Further, as well as making progress in the mobile voice arena, Telefonica Mexico also noted that it now has more than 2.4 million mobile broadband accesses, which it said reflected ‘the rapid deployment of networks and [its] commercial position in the data business’.
