Third MVNO to enter market

Voice-over-internet protocol (VoIP) provider Redvoiss has been issued a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) licence by Chilean regulator Subtel. According to Prepaid MVNO, Redvoiss received a 30 year concession and plans to launch the service by late 2012/early 2013. The provider is yet to sign an agreement with a network operator, but expects to invest around USD3 million in its MVNO launch, plus a further USD3 million in marketing and promoting the new service. TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database notes that Redvoiss will be the third MVNO to enter the Chilean market, behind broadband operator Grupo GTD and UK-backed Virgin Mobile Chile, both of which have signed agreements with Movistar Chile, the local subsidiary of Spain’s Telefonica.
