TRAI orders greater transparency from ISPs

10 Sep 2012

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (TRAI) has directed internet service providers (ISPs) to improve transparency regarding the provision of broadband services, reports India Blooms. Telcos have been instructed to ensure that broadband connections are not reduced below the minimum speed specified by the plan and to inform customers when data usage reaches 80% and 100% of their limit. The move was reportedly a response to consumer complaints that telcos were not providing customers with adequate information on their plans and Fair Usage Policies (FUPs).
