US-based cable provider Liberty Global Inc’s Hungarian unit is interested in launching a mobile service in the country, according to an unconfirmed report in online journal Portfolio.hu. It is understood UPC Hungary will announce more details of its planned service at a press conference on 21 August, with many analysts believing the cableco will confirm its intention to enter the mobile market either as a mobile virtual network operator (MVNO), or by reselling the services of an existing carrier under its own brand name.
