Kosovo’s Ministry of Economic Development has named five qualifying bidders for state-owned telco Post and Telecommunications Kosovo (PTK, or Posta dhe Telekomunikacioni i Kosoves). As reported by Bloomberg, the five groups are: Turkcell; Portugal Telecom (in partnership with Albright Capital Management); British Telecom Poland (in partnership with Columbia Capital and ACP Axos Capital); M1 International Limited; and Avicena Capital (in partnership with Sofrecom).
The ministry announced that the official tender for a 75% stake in PTK will begin in September, with bidding to take place during the fourth quarter. The sale was relaunched in June after a previous attempt failed last year due to a corruption investigation. Three bidders, Monaco Telecom International, Luxembourg-based Geni Capital and Kosovan company Elkos failed to qualify.
