Mobile broadband helping drive growth at VIPnet, Si.Mobil

17 Aug 2012

Croatian cellco VIPnet, part of the Telekom Austria group, reported in its second-quarter results that its mobile broadband customers increased by 9.5% year-on-year to 180,829 at the end of June 2012. Another Telekom Austria subsidiary, Si.Mobil in Slovenia, also reported growth in its mobile broadband subscriber base, reaching 17,386 at 30 June 2012, an increase of 13.6% year-on-year. The uptake contributed to rises in operating profit (EBIT) at both companies, with VIPnet reporting a 38.4% increase in EBIT y-o-y to EUR27.2 million (USD33.3 million) in the first six months of 2012, while its Slovenian sister cellco said that EBIT was up by 38.4% in the half-year period to EUR16.1 million.
