Tigo Tanzania to spend over USD100m on network expansion

Tigo Tanzania is looking to invest over USD100 million to expand its network coverage and capacity in the country, the East African Business Week reports. In an interview with the paper, the cellco’s country manager, Diego Gutierrez, said that Tigo hopes the expansion program will ease connectivity issues being experienced by a number of its subscribers. Gutierrez confirmed that the monies would be used for capacity upgrades and to install new base stations nationwide. It is understood the project, which is expected to be completed by end of this year, will spread to all 26 regions including, Lake Zone region, Northern and Southern regions, Mtwara, Iringa and Pwani, giving Tigo the largest operational footprint coverage in the country – he claimed.
