Nigerian telecoms firms Multilinks, Starcomms and MTS First Communications are reportedly close to reaching an agreement on merging their CDMA network operations, local newspaper Leadership reports, citing an unnamed Starcomms official and a source at the Association of Telecommunications Companies of Nigeria (ATCON). Under the proposed USD200 million deal, the trio will combine their operations into a single entity, known as CAPCOM, in a bid to improve their competitiveness in Nigeria’s highly competitive and overcrowded telecoms market.
