UPC looking to snap up Multimedia

US-backed cableco UPC Poland is reportedly running against private equity firms Permira and Cinven to acquire rival broadband provider Multimedia Polska. Reuters cites a person close to one of the bidders as saying that the Liberty Global subsidiary was one of a trio of companies that had passed through to a second round of bidding. Multimedia was valued at an estimated EUR800 million (USD982.9 million) and had 410,292 broadband subscribers at the end of March 2012 of which, 356,464 were cable modem customers, 49,981 were DSL and 3,847 WiMAX.
