NBN Co, the company overseeing the construction and management of Australia’s in-deployment National Broadband Network (NBN), is reportedly looking to relocate a number of previously planned points of interconnect (PoI). According to iTnews, a consultation paper released by the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) has outlined the proposed changes, which include altering the location of eight PoIs built by NBN Co, while the company is also looking to transition another from the North Parramatta Telstra exchange to Parramatta in Sydney. Further, plans to use Telstra’s exchange in Salisbury are to be scrapped, with NBN Co instead now looking to construct a new PoI in Acacia Ridge, Queensland. In addition, the public-private company will now no longer move forward with the building of a custom PoI at Eight Mile in Queensland, with it instead now opting to use a Telstra exchange in the area.
