Entel profits slide 16.5% as revenue growth fails to offset rising costs

7 Aug 2012

Chilean telco Entel has posted net profits of CLP42.89 billion (USD89.35 million) for the three months ended 30 June 2012, down by 16.5% from CLP51.36 billion in the corresponding period of 2011. Operating profits also fell, from CLP65.98 billion in Q2 2011 to CLP58.82 billion in Q2 2012. The drop in profits came despite a substantial rise in revenues, which grew to CLP347.97 billion for the period under review, up by 16.12% year-on-year, but failed to offset increases in expenses which grew across the board.
