2degrees reaches the one million subscriber mark

7 Aug 2012

New Zealand mobile operator 2degrees has notched up its millionth customer just three years after launching its network and breaking the long-held market duopoly dominated by Vodafone New Zealand and Telecom Mobile. Chief executive Eric Hertz announced the milestone, admitting that the company had grown a little faster than expected, and assessed that approximately 21% of New Zealand mobile users were now connected to 2degrees. Hertz commented: ‘More than a million New Zealanders have made it clear they wanted choice and competition in the market. Seeing three players compete to win – and keep – customers is a fantastic outcome for all mobile users.’
