TIM Brasil inks Amdocs deal

2 Aug 2012

Brazilian carrier TIM Participacoes (TIM Brasil), which is owned by Telecom Italia, has signed a five-year managed services deal with Amdocs under which the latter will manage its business and operational systems, including third-party applications. The agreement encompasses all TIM Brasil’s lines of business – wireless, wireline and broadband – and will allow the carrier, currently the country’s second largest mobile service provider by subscribers, to better focus on customer needs and service innovation while realising operational cost efficiencies. Under the agreement, Amdocs will manage TIM Brasil’s operational support systems (OSS), providing application development and maintenance as well as assuming responsibility for legacy systems and all third-party OSS vendor contracts. On the business support systems (BSS) side, Amdocs will manage its products deployed across TIM’s business areas, including the end-to-end ‘order to cash’ solution suite at TIM Brasil’s new fibre-to-the-curb/fibre-to-the-building (FTTC/FTTB) residential broadband service – branded ‘Live’. Amdocs’ new Sao Carlos Operations Centre will play a key role in providing the managed services for TIM Brasil, the pair said in a statement.
