Lithuanian telecoms group Bite, which provides mobile services in Latvia as well as its domestic market, has announced it generated consolidated service revenue of EUR38.5 million (USD46.9 million) in the three months ended 30 June 2012, up slightly from EUR38.4 million in the year-ago quarter, while total revenue increased from EUR42.4 million to EUR46.0 million over the same period. Bite said that despite a decrease in interconnection charges, consolidated earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) totalled EUR14.5 million in Q2 2012, an increase of 20% from EUR12.1 million twelve months earlier. The group posted a net profit of EUR2.78 million in the three months ended 30 June 2012, compared to a net loss of EUR1.26 million in the year-ago quarter.
In Lithuania, Bite generated service revenue of EUR26.8 million in the second quarter of 2012, down 9% from EUR29.3 million in the year-ago period due to interconnect rate reductions and pricing pressure in the market, while EBITDA in its domestic market increased 1% from EUR11.3 million to EUR11.4 million. Bite Latvia’s EBITDA grew by EUR2.2 million to EUR2.6 million and service revenue jumped 28% year-on-year to EUR12.1 million in Q2 2012.
