TM reaches 400,000 UniFi subscriber target five months ahead of schedule

23 Jul 2012

Malaysian fixed line incumbent Telekom Malaysia™ has reportedly surpassed its self-imposed target for take-up of services offered over its High Speed Broadband (HSBB) network. According to the Malaysian Insider, the telco has revealed that, some five months ahead of schedule, more than 400,000 customers have signed up for TM’s ‘UniFi’ services, with the announcement coming just three months after the telco revealed that customer numbers for such services had reached 300,000.

In outlining its progress, TM has also confirmed that UniFi is now available at 83 exchange areas, covering more than 1.222 million premises, with the operator claiming that it aims to meet its target of covering 1.3 million premises by the end of the year.

Datuk Seri Zamzamzairani Mohd Isa, TM’s group chief executive officer, was cited as saying of his company reaching the milestone: ‘Our UniFi service continues to receive overwhelming response, beating the set target five months ahead of schedule. This latest development augurs well for TM and we expect this momentum to continue … We are very pleased indeed that our flagship service has reached more than 400,000 customers nationwide. The coverage area for UniFi is steadily expanding, with Terengganu being the most recent addition to the list early this month.’
