Magyar mobile base falls again in June

The National Media and Infocommunications Authority (NMHH) of Hungary has published its latest flash report on the country’s mobile market, showing that the user base continues to fall, reaching a total of 11.528 million subscribers by 30 June 2012, down from 11.634 million three months earlier. Of the total, active mobile phone subscriptions – i.e. those phone SIMs that were used at least once in the previous three months – also fell by a net 33,000 in the three-month to 10.980 million at end-June, as cellular penetration slipped to 115.9 SIM cards per hundred people, down from 116.8 in March.

The NMHH reported that in terms of total mobile market share, T-Mobile Hungary controlled 45.83% of the market at 30 June 2012, up from 45.32% three months earlier, ahead of Telenor with 31.33% (down from 31.81%) and Vodafone in third at 22.84% (22.88%). When measuring the cellcos’ market share based on active users though, the situation was as follows: T-Mobile Hungary up to 45.84% from 45.58%; Telenor, down to 31.38% from 31.87%; and Vodafone at 22.78% from 22.55% previously.
