LRTC expands WiMAX network to 13 new areas

Broadcasting and internet service provider Lithuanian Radio and TV Centre (LRTC, also known as Telecentras) has announced the expansion of its WiMAX network to 13 new locations, including the towns and cities of Birstonas, Giruliai, Joniskis, Kelme and Kvedarna. The state-owned company’s Mezon-branded 4G services are now available in around 90 locations across the country, with coverage increased in the main cities of Kaunas, Klaipeda and Vilnius, amongst others, during the first half of the year. In the near future, LRTC plans to introduce its WiMAX network, which was first launched in early May 2009, in Druskininkai, Calvary, Lazdijai, Ukmerge, Visaginas and Zarasai.
