DoT releases sketchy 2G auction info, still waiting on EGoM for price

5 Jul 2012

Indian telecoms regulator the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) has released basic guidelines for the upcoming 2G spectrum auction, though the watchdog is still awaiting a decision on reserve prices for frequencies from the government’s Empowered Group of Ministers (EGoM). According to Bloomberg, the DoT will put up spectrum in the 800MHz and 1800MHz ranges, and will treat all operators that had their licences revoked by the Supreme Court in February this year as new entrants. The auction will be a simultaneous multiple round e-auction.
