Brazilian telecoms operator Embratel Participacoes, part of the America Movil (AM) group, has announced that it has won a BRL1.03 billion (USD499 million) contract to supply telecoms services in the state of Pernambuco. Under the terms of the contract, Embratel will assume responsibility for supplying network services to the state for a period of four years, using its unified infrastructure to deliver mobile and fixed services, Wi-Fi access, call centre services, CCTV monitoring and videoconferencing. Over the next twelve months, the consortium led by AM’s local unit will invest BRL320 million to facilitate the expansion of its telecommunications networks in Pernambuco.
