America Movil unifies Colombian operations under Claro brand

Following a similar move by rival provider Telefonica, Mexico’s America Movil has begun rebranding services in Colombia under its preferred Claro moniker. At present America Movil offers fixed services under the Telmex Colombia brand, whilst wireless services are offered as Comunicacion Celular (Comcel). The two arms will continue to operate independently. As previously noted by CommsUpdate, Telefonica of Spain unified its Colombian operations under the ‘Movistar’ brand late last month in the wake of its merging of its wireless operations with its partly state-owned fixed arm.
