Tricom to continue triple-play expansion with USD125m investment

11 Jun 2012

Dominican Republic internet service provider (ISP) Tricom has said it plans to invest USD125 million over the next three years as part of its infrastructure expansion programme. The project will improve Tricom’s range of cable TV, broadband internet and voice telephony services, NexTV LatAm reports, citing local newspaper Listin. Services will be offered through Gigabit Passive Optical Network (GPON) technology for corporate clients and Hybrid Fibre-Coaxial (HFC) technology for residential users. The network investment will allow Tricom to expand the coverage area for its triple-play service pack; 339,000 households in Santo Domingo and eastern provinces already have access to the firm’s triple-play packages.
