Entel to launch satellite TV before the end of year

7 Jun 2012

Multi-play provider Entel Chile is reportedly planning to launch a satellite TV service to better compete with its rivals, the local arms of Mexican-owned America Movil and Telefonica of Spain. According to Reuters, Entel inked a deal with pan Latin American satellite TV wholesaler Media Network last year, and has begun testing the service. No date has been set for the full launch of the new offering; Entel CEO Antonio Buchi said that the company would find ‘the best moment this year.’ Buchi added that Entel was open to developing its business outside of Chile, with Peru and Colombia suggested as potential candidates for expansion.
