Digicel revenues rise 14% boosted by VAS and ‘4G’

Pan Caribbean operator Digicel Group has reported revenues of USD2.54 billion for the year ended 31 March 2012, up 14% year-on-year. The group recorded earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) of USD1.08 billion, up 13% y-o-y, with an EBITDA margin of 45%. Revenues from value added services (VAS) were up 47% compared to a year earlier, and accounted for 20% of all service revenues. Digicel’s total subscriber base increased to 12.8 million across its 30 markets, while it has launched HSPA+ services – which it dubs ‘4G’ – in 14 of the those territories including; Aruba, Bonaire, Curacao, Barbados, Cayman Islands, Dutch Caribbean, Fiji, Haiti, Papua New Guinea, Samoa and Vanuatu.

Digicel Group CEO, Colm Delves, said: ‘I am pleased to report that Digicel has closed out another strong year in which, for the first time in our eleven year history, our annual EBITDA was over USD1 billion.’ The group’s total investment across all markets was USD4.5 billion at end-March 2012.
