ETB eyes IPTV in 2013

Local newspaper Portafolio reports that state-owned telco Empresa de Telecomunicaciones de Bogota (ETB) plans to launch an IPTV service from the end of the first quarter of 2013. The company will spend approximately USD50 million on the deployment of the service. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Pay-TV research service, rival Colombian operator UNE-EPM launched an IPTV service at the end of 2008, and currently has more than 200,000 subscribers.
