Kyivstar’s EBITDA down 2%

15 May 2012

Ukraine’s largest cellco by users, Kyivstar, has reported a 2% year-on-year fall in EBITDA to UAH1.57 billion (USD193 million) in the first three months of 2012, which it attributed to higher interconnection costs, and a rise in operational expenses including network costs as a result of inflation and higher network traffic. The Vimpelcom subsidiary’s total revenues increased by 3% year-on-year to UAH3.10 billion in Q1 2012 as its sales grew in both the mobile (2%) and fibre broadband (82%) sectors. Its mobile subscriber base grew by 2% in twelve months to reach 24.9 million at 31 March 2012, and blended mobile ARPU declined by 1% to UAH37.5.
