German mobile service provider Drillisch has reported a 4.8% increase in revenue for the first three months of 2012 to EUR84.2 million (USD109 million) from EUR80.3 million in the year-ago quarter. Service revenues totalled EUR75.3 million, compared to EUR72.4 million in Q1 2011. The company said that earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) grew 18.5% year-on-year from EUR12.5 million to EUR14.8 million in the first quarter of 2012. Meanwhile, consolidated profit for the period fell to EUR2.8 million from EUR10.9 million in the year-ago quarter, which the company attributed to the accounting impact of a hedging transaction in the company’s freenet shares. Adjusted for freenet, consolidated profit came to EUR8.9 million in 1Q12, up slightly from EUR8.3 million a year earlier, reflecting higher revenues and margins. At 31 March 2012 Drillisch reported a total mobile subscriber base of 2.427 million (down from 2.472 million twelve months earlier), including 1.56 million post-paid customers, an increase of 25% year-on-year.
