The French mobile virtual network operator (MVNO) Virgin Mobile France has reported a 20.7% rise in revenues for its fourth fiscal quarter to 31 March 2012 to EUR125 million (USD162 million). The positive results reflected an improved mix of post-paid versus pre-paid clients from a year earlier, the company said. The increased competition following the launch of low-cost cellular network operator Free Mobile in January this year did have an impact on subscriber growth, however; Virgin Mobile’s end-March 2012 customer base was unchanged from the year-ago figure at 1.92 million, with net losses of 24,000 post-paid customers and 58,000 pre-paid customers during the fourth quarter cancelling out gains earlier in the fiscal year. Revenues for the full financial year rose 17.5% to EUR453 million. Virgin Mobile France is a joint venture between UK-based firms Virgin Group and Carphone Warehouse.
