Entel sees little change in Q1 income

Entel’s largest 3G provider by subscribers, Entel Chile has booked net profits of CLP52.481 billion (USD108.1 million) for the first quarter of 2012, up slightly from the CLP51.441 billion reported for the corresponding period of 2011. Revenues increased by 16.0% year-on-year to CLP338.848 billion, though rising expenses kept operating income flat at CLP67.786 billion compared to CLP67.618 billion a year earlier. According to TeleGeography’s GlobalComms Database, at the end of December 2011 Entel claimed a 38.1% share of the wireless market with 9.347 million subscribers, of which 945,429 were signed up to 3G packages.
