Qtel and Q.NBN sign open access agreement

Qatar Telecom (Qtel) and Qatar National Broadband Network (Q.NBN) have signed a secondary partnership agreement to support the government-backed project to accelerate implementation of nationwide high speed broadband services for residents, businesses and the public sector via an open access network rollout. Under the Infrastructure Access Agreement, Qtel will supply Q.NBN with duct network access and access to other passive telecommunications infrastructure over the next 20 years. The agreement builds on the ‘Heads of Agreement’ signed last July which established the beginning of a working framework for the partnership, which also includes second national operator (SNO) Vodafone Qatar.
