Cofetel launches consultation on interconnection rate cost model

27 Apr 2012

Mexican telecoms regulator the Comision Federal de Telecomunicaciones (Cofetel) is planning to launch a public consultation regarding the proposed cost model for defining fixed and mobile interconnection rates. The decision to launch the consultation, the watchdog noted in a press release, was prompted in part with a view to strengthening the transparency of the decision-making process, while also ensuring the legal certainty of any decisions that are made with regard to the determination of interconnection rates. The public consultation will begin from today, and Cofetel has said it will accept submissions and comments up until 1 June 2012.
