KPN selects JPMorgan for BASE sale

25 Apr 2012

Dutch incumbent KPN Telecom (or Royal KPN) has reportedly hired JPMorgan Chase & Co. To assist in the sale of its Belgian unit BASE, Dow Jones Newswires reports, citing a person familiar with the situation. As previously reported by CommsUpdate, earlier this month, KPN announced it was considering the sale of BASE in a deal that could generate up to EUR1.8 billion (USD2.3 billion) for the company. BASE, Belgium’s third largest carrier by subscribers, is likely to attract interest from a number of potential bidders, including private equity groups such as Apax Partners, while other names to have emerged in connection with the sale include billionaire French entrepreneur Xavier Niel and Liberty Global Inc.
