Siminn to appeal fine for abuse of dominant market position

Iceland’s Competition Authority has handed a ISK400 million (USD3.2 million) fine to former monopoly telco Siminn for abuse of its dominant market position through predatory pricing. A report from Iceland Review quotes the Competition Authority as saying that Siminn has violated laws on market competition by restricting margins between wholesale and retail pricing, making it difficult for new operators to establish themselves in the sector. Siminn is to appeal the verdict, the report suggests.
