Telkom to release treasury stock; looking to acquire a regional operator

5 Apr 2012

Rhinaldi Firmansjah, the CEO of Indonesia’s largest telco by assets and subscribers, PT Telekomunikasi Indonesia (Telkom Indonesia), says his firm will release treasury stocks later this year and is also looking to acquire a regional operator. The chief executive said that Telkom has regained approximately 3% of its shares through a buy-back programme launched in 2008. In fiscal 2011 Telkom purchased IDR2.06 trillion (USD220 million) in shares, out of a targeted IDR5 trillion, he added. According to Firmansjah Telkom Indonesia has two options to release shares this year: selling on the open market or increasing the state’s equity holding in the operator.
