5 Apr 2012

Hungary’s dominant telecoms operator Magyar Telekom’s (MTel’s) T-Home unit has signed up more than 250,000 customers to its interactive TV services, BroadbandTVNews reports. The telco offers cable-based services in the country, launched an IPTV platform in late-2006 and debuted a DTH satellite product dubbed ‘Interactive Sat TV’ last December. Having reached the milestone, MTel chairman and CEO Chris Mattheisen said: ‘2012 will be the year of interactive TV in Hungary. Interactivity becomes ever more important for our customers … more than 250,000 people use T-Home’s IPTV and Interactive Sat TV services [already and] we expect this figure to grow further [this year].’
