Huawei, DT conduct LTE 4x4 MIMO field trials

29 Mar 2012

Huawei has carried out what it claims to be the world’s first Long Term Evolution (LTE) 4×4 MIMO (multiple-input multiple-output) field trial using the network of German telecoms company Deutsche Telekom (DT). The trials untilised the Chinese vendor’s SingleRAN LTE solution and demonstrated maximum download rates of up to 250Mbps. ‘This is a key milestone in the LTE industry,’ commented Ying Weimin, president of GSM, UMTS and LTE wireless networks at Huawei, adding: ‘Deutsche Telekom is one of the most innovative operators in the world. We are proud to foster our strategic partnership with Deutsche Telekom and to contribute to the development of mobile broadband. Huawei remains committed to being the best business partner for operators around the world.’
